Wow, it’s been exactly a month since my last post which was last year and this is officially my first post of 2016 so I’m allowed to wish you a great year.
Today’s post is a super-long overdue post.
It’s a styling project I did sometime last year, anytime I thought of putting it up something always came up i.e. up until now.
Ever heard of a lookbook?
If you are on Instagram, you’ll see many fashion bloggers put up a post and hash tag it lookbook or you’ll see designers talking of a lookbook shoot for their project or bloggers talking about a lookbook post but what exactly is it?
A lookbook is a collection of photographs compiled to show off a model, a photographer, a style, or stylist or a clothing line. Usually, bloggers or vloggers will “model” fashionable looks for that month or season. This gives viewers ideas on how to style outfits, or to show what the latest fashions are.
A lookbook is a canvas to show your target market who you are and what you represent.
Because of that your brand personality should be breathed into it. Is your brand artsy and creative, youthful and fun or elegant and sophisticated, make sure to infuse that in the photos.
It is an enticement to the viewer because of its visual appeal.
Introducing Pure Maiden Kenya.
Pure Maiden specializes in custom-made dresses, soft furnishing and fashion accessories.
For this shoot though, the collection was a diffusion bridal line, intentionally incohesive, to showcase varied looks for different types of brides.
We were working with 5 pieces which when styled totaled to 8 pieces. I love how the designer, Katrina, knew exactly what she wanted and did a good job in letting us understand the vision of the collection.
I did this shoot courtesy of City Models Africa which if you follow my blog keenly, you might have seen some of our collaborations here before.
This was my first bridal shoot and I must say it was epic, the designs were seamless, finishing perfect and the model did the gowns justice.
If you are a designer and have an up-coming collection, hit me up via mail and let’s create a lookbook that will sell your brand.
