In the coming few days, I’m going to be doing a series based on the below statement;
“Clothes aren’t going to change the world. The women who wear them will.” Anne Klein
I will focus on the great Kenyan women who have taken this to heart and are actively doing something about it. Today, I start with Diana Opoti.
Diana Opoti, Presenter and Host of the Fashion TV Show Designing Africa, who recently started her own Fashion and PR brand, recently launched a campaign dubbed 100 days of African Fashion. This is basically a campaign dedicated to promoting African brands through her personal style. I must applaud her for coming up with this ingenius idea. Now more than ever when the African Fashion Industry has just found strength in its feet and began to walk, leaving its footprints for the world to see. This is an idea whose time has come. She has chosen to utilise the media not for cheap publicity stunts but for a cause that puts Africa in the global map too as far as fashion is concerned.
I leave you with a few photos of the designers she’s worn so far, but for more details, you can check out her website;
You can also follow the conversation online using #100daysofAfricanFashion.
Do have yourselves a lovely week and as always, your comments are always appreciated. Feel free to tag and share the post with your friends.
